This website chronicles a pilot project of The Star Mountains Institute of Technology (SMIT), which is situated in the town of Tabubil in Western Province, Papua New Guinea.
Classroom in a Box (CIAB) is a pilot project that is implemented within SMIT’s Tabubil Catchment Schools Support Program (TCSSP).
SMIT will be a world-class education, training and research institution for all Papua New Guineans, and the international community.
Currently in operation are the SMIT Technical College and the Star Mountains Community Learning Centre. In 2013 the Tabubil International School will come under the SMIT umbrella. New campus buildings (expected to be complete by the end of 2014) will become the hub of SMIT, creating a cutting edge facility for the provision of a range of non-trades related, research, education and training programs.
